Tuesday Check-In

Today's weather, news, events:
SNOW!  7 inches so far...  Hubby's already at the ski hill (took the day off of work).
In the news, it's all about the budget shortfalls in our government, and the sequester.  I love hearing politicians from all sides saying it's time to get this figured out - together!  Yep.  About time.  Events?  Nothing much this week...  Starting to plan my St. Patty's Day feast.

Today I feel:  A little restless.  So much to do - and not a whole lot of motivation.  We cleaned the house last night - took down the last of the winter decorations and put out our few spring reminders...  Seems a little bare with all "white" outside the windows!  Ha ha ha.  I need some blue sky and green grass!  I think cabin fever is settling in.

My favorite print.  It used to hang in my grandma's house - and I was always drawn to it.  Now I get the pleasure of bringing it out every spring!  Love it.

My new table runner is making it's first appearance!  Thanks, Amanda!
And below - this is Murphy.  He's pretty adorable.  Another friend I always look forward to coming ut to play!

I am grateful for:  Small things with great love.  Do you read the blog, Momastery?  This woman, Glennon, has created a movement - which she refers to as "Love Flash Mobs" - where she finds a need to highlight on her blog, then puts it out there, and allows 48 hours for people to respond to the need.  Today's story hit me hard.  I had to give.  The thing is?  You can only give a max of $25 - because she believes if we all give a small amount - in great love - big things happen.  And it's so true!  I'm so amazed at the things, the miracles, that happen when she tells peoples' stories.  So, I did my part today - and I'm so grateful to be able to help!  Go here to check it out!

Spiritually I:  am following God's prompts closer than ever.  And praying, lots.

People in my thoughts today:  One of my youth group girls.  I'm a little worried about her.  A friend who's on a new path - I'm excited for her!

Magical moments (comfort, peace, and love):  My hubby's support lately has made me so happy to have him by my side.  No matter what curve balls I throw his way - he knows they're coming before I say anything, he cheers me on, and he always knows the right words to say.  He makes me smile - and not worry so much.  I couldn't ask for a better partner in life!

Donations of the Heart (acts of kindness, sharing, caring, and forgiveness):  Today, I gave to the Momastery love flash mob.  Sending cards and pictures to our sponsored child, Mete, in the Congo.

For a better tomorrow (goals, ideas, etc):  Trying to focus on the positive of the here and now...  Serving others wherever I am, however I can.  I have the confirmation class recite John Wesley's rule every Sunday - it's a good reminder to myself, as well.  A great motto to live by:

Do all the good you can.
By all the means you can.
In all the ways you can.
In all the places you can.
At all the times you can.
To all the people you can.
As long as ever you can.

Today, I am thankful for:

1.  The random strangers who pushed Amanda's car out of the snow!
2.  Love Flash Mobs.
3.  Hubby getting to snowboard today with fresh powder!
4.  Being able to work from home on a snowy day.
5.  Light, fresh spring decorations.
6.  Another donation to my 3 Day Walk!  Thanks, Shari!
7.  And... another!  Thanks, Dana!  (The generosity of my friends brings tears to my eyes!)
8.  Springy scented candles.
9.  Duct tape.
10.  Commercials that make me chuckle...  (Today?  The ATT&T adds with the focus group guy sitting with the kids...  And the VW convertible with the guys in ski masks...  Too funny!)

QotD:  Who's your nemesis?
Ha ha ha.  Well...  I don't think it's a person, I think it's the attitude of apathy.  The things I thrive at doing require excitement, engagement, commitment, and willingness to join in.  When I'm in an environment where these things aren't happening...  I feel useless and un-needed.  I tend to disengage when surrounded by apathy.  I can't use my gifts and talents when no one cares what's happening...  So, I start to feel like "what's the point?"  Know what I mean?  And that feeling is more of a nemesis than anything else...

Thanks for the info about Love Flash Mobs. So cool!! How often does she post those ideas? I donated today, too.
